Best Class in Dungeon Lootr — Top Picks Ranked

The best class in Dungeon Lootr right now, picked by situation: best overall DPS, best free class, best beginner pick, best bossing kit, and best budget craft.

The best class in Dungeon Lootr right now is Dark Professor on a maxed gear setup, with Spell Breaker as the closest Strength-based alternative and Dreadlord as the safest all-around pick. But "best" changes depending on where you are in the game — a class that carries Nightmare raids is overkill for Bandit's Den, and a free class with the right aspect out-damages a lazy S-tier build every time.

That's why this page exists. We already have a full all classes ranked list and a class tier list covering the whole 40+ roster. This guide is the opposite: a short, decision-first answer to the one question most players actually have — which class should I use right now? Below you'll find the single best pick per situation, why it wins, and what to do until you can get it.

Dark Professor — The Best DPS Class in Dungeon Lootr

Dark Professor is a skill-based INT caster that outdamages every other class in the game on a maxed setup, including Sinister Trigger. Update 2.5 cut the startup and endlag on its skills by roughly 25% and removed the root on Skill 1, which fixed the clunkiness that used to hold it back. Its Umbral Bolt reset loop means your strongest skill comes back off cooldown faster than most bosses can telegraph their next attack.

The catch is access: it only drops from the Magic Unleashed Raid on Impossible difficulty, one of the hardest farms in the game. Pair it with Tempest or Umbral aspects and an INT-rolled gear set from the forge and nothing else comes close.

Until you farm it, our Dark Professor build walkthrough covers the mid-game version that still performs.

Spell Breaker — The Best Strength DPS

Spell Breaker is what happens when you take Dark Professor's damage philosophy and bolt it onto a 500 HP frame. It's a Physical bruiser with a Thousand Cuts parry that lands triple damage, +20 VIT baseline, and strong Parry uptime on every skill. If you die constantly on casters but still want top-end DPS, this is your class.

It comes from the Magic Unleashed Raid Shop, so you can buy your way out of a bad drop streak — which makes it the most realistic best-in-slot goal for most mid-game players. Run it with Tempest, Umbral, or Aegis; Aegis synergizes directly with its held-parry playstyle.

Dreadlord — The Best Safe Class

Raw damage is fun until a Nightmare pack deletes you. Dreadlord is the class you pick when you want to stop dying: 500 HP, +20 VIT, Crimson Rush is fully invulnerable, Dread Vortex combines Parry with knockback immunity, and Gravefall covers long-range engagement. It drops from Underworld Gate Nightmare via the Underworld Glaive, so it's farmable without spending Robux.

For Endless pushes and learning new raid mechanics, Dreadlord is genuinely the best class in Dungeon Lootr — it just trades a slice of ceiling for a huge floor.

Best Free Class: Demonbane

Demonbane is the answer to "what should a free-to-play player main?" It's Exotic-rarity, sits on the free Battlepass track, and got a 65% base-damage increase in Update 2.5. Zoltraak hits x15, Catastravia reaches x20, and Gravity Well groups enemies so those AoEs connect. The downside is 215 HP with +1 VIT — it's glass — but with a Sanguine aspect for lifesteal it clears everything short of Impossible raids.

If you haven't claimed your Battlepass Demonbane yet, do that before you spend a single Coin on Class Summons.

Best Beginner Class: Bowman (or Greatsword)

New players should not chase the S-tier farm list on day one. Bowman and Greatsword are Rare classes with Dodge-protected skills and solid base stats, and they carry you comfortably into Hard difficulty. Bowman is the safer pick since ranged damage avoids most telegraphed attacks entirely. Ronin is a fine alternative if you want to learn parry timing in melee.

Upgrade path: Bowman → Archer or Sinister Trigger (ranged) or Greatsword → Dreadlord (melee). Don't invest Aspect Gems or reforge materials into a starter class beyond what you need to progress — read the gear upgrade guide before spending.

Best Bossing Class: Cursed King

Boss Rush is where the endgame loot lives, and Cursed King is built for it. Its Ultimate hits x85, three of its skills are invulnerable, and its kit rewards learning boss patterns instead of facetanking them. It drops rarely from Boss Rush (floor 40+) or comes from Forge crafting with Exotic materials — the same route as Anti Magic and Honored One. Check the Boss Rush guide for floor strategies and the forge stones breakdown if you're going the craft route.

Classes That Are No Longer the Best

A few names still circulate in old guides but have fallen off:

  • Sinister Trigger — nerfed in Update 1, then partially restored in 2.5 (base damage +20%, Mastery passive 120% → 140%). Still the best ranged class, but no longer the undisputed best class overall.
  • Cryomancer — huge multipliers (x8.5 to x15) but zero defensive frames. Great for room-clearing, a liability in Nightmare.
  • Boxer, Wanderer, Witch Gunner — the C tier. Playable, but every one of them is outclassed by a class on this page.
